At about 4:53 pm on Friday, July 19th, Alex Baker wrecked his bike in the construction on 421. The uneven pavement was higher than normal, he miss calculated the merge and the bike went into a death wobble. He normally wears a novelty skid lid, but he put on his full-face DOT helmet about 20 to 30 minutes before the accident. This small action saved his life!!! He recovered the bike but was unable to maintain control. The accident left him with 7 broken ribs, a cracked sternum, 2 broken wrist and a lot of road rash.

Alex Baker is a retired veteran of NCNGA with 22 years of service and the majority provider for his family, which includes his wife and 3 girls, ages 13, 11, and 9. They also have a 20-year-old son who lives outside of the home, is married, and is expecting their first child. He is a dedicated and devoted husband and father. He works hard to teach his children loyalty, honor, and respect. Alex is a truck driver and crane operator for Superior Cranes in Greensboro, North Carolina. For unknown reasons, he opted out of short-term/long-term disability from the company. Although his wife has a part-time job, she has been unable to work to provide Alex with all of his care. This has left a huge financial burden.

When Alex isn’t working, he and his wife are active members of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association® (CVMA) Chapter 15-12 and the VFW Post 5352 in Kernersville, NC. Their hard work and dedication to veterans and supporting groups hasn’t gone unnoticed. Alex was elected as CVMA 15-12’s executive officer on August 3rd. With the VFW Post 5352, he volunteers to assist at most events. Alex and his wife have also set up a monthly brunch at the VFW to support them and their cause.

We all believe in a brotherhood, and Alex and his family need all the assistance we can give them. Thank you to the BikerDown Foundation for hosting this fundraiser. BikerDown will absorb any credit card fees that aren't donated, which can be a tremendous help in ensuring that the family receives all of the funds.
