On October 4th, my husband, Damon Freeman, was in a terrible motorcycle accident. I was told he had a 5% chance of surviving, he had severe injuries to the right side of his body. broken hip, right arm fingers all broken, leg severely mangled, so that they were not sure if he would keep it, along with his left elbow broken. On top of this all he had a heart attack and a stroke.

He fought hard through all of this. I was by his side day and night. We were able to talk with one another. He really did not know what had happened. I slept at the hospital with him, afraid to leave his side. I told him there were many people praying for him and that he would make it through this that I was going to take care of him.

The doctor told us his kidneys were failing and he was going to have to be put on dialysis. On Oct 23rd, we had to make a decision to amputate his leg. This was not an easy decision; they took him down later for surgery. He once again came through another surgery. That evening I spent time with him. He did not look so good, very pale. I went home later that night.

I received a call at midnight that he went into cardiac arrest. I rushed to the hospital. Once I got there they got his heart pumping again. He was back on the ventilator. I was told he was going to have a brain scan done on Saturday Oct 25th my birthday to be sure he didn't have brain damage since he went into cardiac arrest. Later that day we received bad news he had severe brain damage and I was told he would not get through this.

He lost his life on October 26th in a motorcycle accident. Damon was not only my husband and best friend, but also our family’s sole provider. His passing has left an emptiness in my heart and a sudden financial burden that I’m struggling to carry alone.

I’m doing my best to stay strong and find my footing again, but I truly need some help to get through this difficult time. The support from this community — whether through donations, sharing this fundraiser, or simply keeping me in your thoughts and prayers — means more to me than words can express.

Damon was a good man who worked hard and cared deeply for the people in his life. I’m so grateful to everyone who is coming together — even those who never knew us personally — to help honor his memory and lift me up as I try to rebuild after this heartbreaking loss.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart,
Rebecca Freeman
