Dear Followers of BikerDown Foundation,
I must ask the riding community for additional help this year with great sadness. Since Sturgis this year, our small but mighty non-profit has received over 40 help requests nationwide. We do all we can to help these riders, and many of our followers let people know to reach out to us, but we can sustain this level of assistance without help from the riding community. For 12 years, this organization has been there for the riding community, but we are at a help request level not seen in years past, and we need your help.
We know times are tough, which is the #1 reason riders ask for help. Drivers who hit them are UN-INSURED or UNDER-INSURED, Bikers don't have the right coverages, and their injuries are so severe that their recovery times are 3-6-9 months, and they need help. We have seen more rider errors than ever before.
Services we have depleted:
BDFundme fundraising - BikerDown has absorbed the credit card processing fees for every donation that didn't include it in their donation. Still, even that is at an all-time low, and without your help, we will have to stop that service and start charging fees ourselves. Our nonprofit has raised over 200k for injured riders this year and has absorbed over $6,000 out of our accident fund so that riders got 100% of their donations. This weekend alone, BikerDown paid out over $3,500 in assistance to injured riders all over the country.
Motorcycle Urns - Year-to-date, BikerDown has donated over 100 motorcycle Urns and/or donated to funeral expenses (no more than 100.00). Our motorcycle urns range from $150 to $300 per urn
Medical Equipment - Our satellite chapters are full of medical equipment (Florida, Illinois, Colorado, and Las Vegas); however, injured riders nationwide are now asking for assistance to help them get wheelchairs, toilet seat risers, and shower seats that their health insurance or lack of health insurance won't provide them. Our accident fund is depleted, and we will have to halt donations unless we replenish this fund.
CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A DONATION TODAY TO HELP US MAINTAIN OUR ACCIDENT FUND TO GET US THRU THE REST OF THE YEAR?
BikerDown is offering social media fundraising to our accident victims and their families. 100% of your donation goes to the family, all donors can add the credit card processing fees to your donation to help BikerDown continue to host these fundraisers. If you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call our office at 720-328-9795. You can also visit our website at www.bikerdown.org.
